What is HIFU Non-Surgical Lifting?
HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) offers a versatile, non-invasive solution for rejuvenating, lifting, and tightening skin across the face and body, all without surgery. By precisely targeting deep layers of the skin with ultrasound energy, HIFU stimulates collagen production, resulting in a firmer, more youthful appearance.
Designed and developed by Korean medi-aesthetic leaders, Asterasys, the medical-grade (ARTG #393230) Liftera HIFU device represents the pinnacle of HIFU technology. Offering precise, powerful treatments, Liftera effectively tightens, lifts, smooths, and sculpts the face and neck.
HIFU is a popular choice for clients seeking significant anti-aging benefits, including wrinkle reduction and facial and neck contouring, all achieved through non-surgical lifting and tightening of the skin. By converting ultrasound energy into heat and targeting tissue at optimal depths while sparing the surface layer of the skin, HIFU delivers natural lifting and tightening effects without discomfort or downtime.
What Can You Achieve with HIFU Non-Surgical Lifting?
Liftera delivers non-surgical and non-invasive facial lifting, sculpting, tightening and smoothening to more treatment areas than traditional HIFU including forehead and temple, tear trough orbital ridge, jawline and chin, nasolabial folds, upper lip, neck region, mandibular jowls, perinasal region, cheeks and buccal.
How does HIFU Non-Surgical Lifting work?
Liftera utilises exclusive Thermal Diffusion Treatment™ (TDT) technology from Asterasys, revolutionising the way heat energy is directed into the skin compared to traditional HIFU methods. With TDT, Liftera rapidly irradiates and focuses ultrasound at a swift 10 Hz speed, precisely heating collagen fibres in the dermal layer. This innovative approach accurately diffuses heat deep into the skin's layers, promoting significant collagen renewal and tissue tightening without the invasiveness of traditional methods.
Are HIFU Non-Surgical Lifting treatments suitable for me?
HIFU Non-Surgical Lifting can be treated on all skin types. With the innovations of Liftera HIFU, it delivers comfortable results making it the perfect option for those who are seeking non-invasive facial lifting procedures.
Are treatments painful and are there any side effects?
Liftera enhances the HIFU experience by offering precise targeting and customisableenergy settings, reducing discomfort and minimising downtime. It features multiple transducer cartridges that allow for depth-specific treatments, improving precision and reducing treatment time.
Through the advancements of Liftera, it’s tailored approach ensures minimal disruption to surrounding tissues, which diminishes side effects such as swelling and redness. Consequently, patients can typically resume their normal activities immediately, making Liftera an attractive option for non-invasive lifting and rejuvenation procedures.
How long does the treatment take and how many treatments before I can see results?
Enjoy efficient sessions lasting as little as 30 minutes, with visible improvements often observed after just one treatment.
IMMEDIATELY IATLY AFTER TREATMENT & UP TO AROUND 5 DAYS POST-TREATMENT
Tenderness: The skin will be temperature-sensitive for a couple of days after the treatment session, so it is strongly recommended to avoid hot water or anything that generates heat during this time.
Immediate tightening:
After a High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) treatment for skin tightening, some individuals may experience immediate skin tightening effects. These immediate effects are often due to the thermal energy delivered during the treatment, which causes collagen fibres in the skin to contract, resulting in a temporary tightening sensation. While these immediate effects may be noticeable, the full benefits of HIFU treatments, including increased collagen production and long-term skin tightening, typically become more apparent over the following weeks to months as the body's natural healing processes take effect.
IHIFU treatments are non-invasive, so there is virtually no downtime. Known as the ‘lunchtime facelift,’ the client/patient should be able to have a HIFU treatment and then carry on with their day as usual with no recovery measures required.
Immediately after a HIFU treatment, the skin may exhibit certain characteristics that are part of the normal post-treatment response. Each program will deliver a different level of intensity, and therefore, the stronger the treatment parameters, the more visible and intense the post-treatment response will be.
Mild Erythema and Minor Swelling: It is common to experience mild redness and minor swelling in the treated area immediately after a HIFU treatment. This is a normal inflammatory response that sets the stage for healing because it signals cells responsible for repair and regeneration to come to the site of injury.
Warming Sensation: Any erythema is also accompanied by a warm sensation or tingling sensation that may resemble having a mild sunburn. Once again, this response is less apparent with less intensive parameters and more apparent with treatments performed on more intensive parameters. For some clients, this may persist for up to one to five days post-treatment.
TISSUE PROLIFFERATION
By around days 4 through 7, the fibroblasts will have also started to lay down new collagen and glycosaminoglycans (GAGS) or granulated tissue. Before new tissue can grow, MMPs (matrix metalloproteases) enzymes produced by Fibroblasts break down debris and damaged connective tissue. Once the damaged tissue has been broken down and the debris has been removed, new collagen (collagen type III) and elastin are laid down by the fibroblasts.
Rare Side Effects
As with all other treatments, some rare side effects can occur. Most of these occur due to incorrect techniques or poor client consultation. Before proceeding with the treatment, it's essential that you go through these with the therapist on page 7 of your Journey Booklet.
Transient mild redness, swelling, sensitivity and heat.
Blisters or Burns are caused by incorrect parameters or loss of contact with the skin when firing a shot
Cold Sores outbreaks only occur if the patient has not been on a prophylactic course of antivirals to prevent an outbreak
Bruising or Purpura can occur due to the ablation that occurs at the dermal layer where the blood supply is present; therefore, some blood vessels can be temporarily ruptured by the HIFU energy.
Temporary tingling and/or numbing of the skin. Numbing only tends to take place if the incorrect parameters have been used or if treatment has occurred over the areas that should be avoided
Aftercare
DAILY:
1.Cover the treated area with SPF 30 or higher sunblock.
2.Avoid sun exposure to treated areas.
3.Follow your prescribed homecare routine as advised by your treatment provider. Use a moisturising facial mask daily for
1-2 weeks to hydrate your skin.
FOR THE FIRST 24 HOURS POST-TREATMENT:
1.The treated area must not be exposed to UVR for 24 hours, even in enclosed places.
2.If possible, do not apply a cold compress or ice to the skin, as this will affect the normal wound-healing process.
3.Avoid makeup application.
4.If possible, avoid taking ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatories for 24-48 hours post-treatment.
UP TO 5 DAYS POST-TREATMENT:
1.Avoid the use of scented lotions or soaps. A gentle, hydrating cleanser is recommended.
2.Your skin becomes sensitive after HIFU treatment. Therefore, it's best to avoid skincare products containing active
ingredients like retinol and vitamin C. Focus on soothing and moisturising your skin to aid recovery.
3.A gentle skincare routine is recommended during this time. Your treatment provider will recommend suitable skincare to
protect and hydrate the skin.
UP TO 1 WEEK POST-TREATMENT:
Do not wax or exfoliate the skin for up to one week after treatment. Waxing or exfoliation can exacerbate skin irritation
and inflammation. Prioritise gentle skincare to support the healing process.
Avoid exercise and activities that increase perspiration and body temperature.
Avoid using pools, spas, saunas, and extremely hot showers. Do not use hot water to shower or wash your face.
UP TO 2 WEEKS POST-TREATMENT:
We recommend not having laser/IPL treatments.
UP TO 1 MONTH POST-TREATMENT:
Only use mild exfoliants such as AHAs, BHAs, and granular scrubs no more than x1 every 1-2 weeks.
Avoid in-clinic exfoliating and rejuvenating treatments. Check with your treatment provider before proceeding with your
next treatment.
Avoid fillers or muscle relaxants on the treated areas for four weeks.
Avoid the use of prescription-strength exfoliant creams (prescriptive vitamin A).
Incorporate collagen-boosting foods and supplements into your diet to enhance results.
